Cookie Policy

Which cookies this site uses, what each one does, and how to change your choice at any time.

Last updated: August 2026

This page explains which cookies this site uses, what each one does, and how to change your mind. It is the detail behind the banner you saw on your first visit.

The short version

We use one cookie that is necessary for the site to function, and it records your cookie choice. Everything else is optional and only runs if you accept it. If you decline, no analytics script is loaded at all: your browser never contacts Google.

Necessary cookies

These cannot be switched off, because the site cannot work correctly without them.

NamePurposeDuration
biisensing_consentRemembers whether you accepted or declined analytics cookies, so you are not asked on every page.6 months

WordPress may also set short-lived cookies if you log in to the site’s administration area. Those apply to our own staff, not to visitors.

Analytics cookies

These only exist if you accepted them.

NameProviderPurposeDuration
_gaGoogle AnalyticsDistinguishes one visitor from another so visit counts are not inflated.2 years
_ga_*Google AnalyticsKeeps the state of the current session.2 years

We use this to understand which pages people find useful and where they arrive from. We do not use it for advertising and we do not build profiles of individual visitors.

What we do not use

We want to be specific, because most cookie policies are not. This site sets no advertising cookies, no social media tracking pixels, and no third-party marketing tags. The fonts and the JavaScript libraries the site depends on are served from our own domain rather than a public CDN, so loading a page does not reveal your visit to a third party.

Changing your mind

Select Cookie settings in the footer of any page to bring the choice back. You can also delete cookies through your browser at any time, which will make the banner appear again on your next visit.

Blocking cookies through your browser settings works too, and will not stop the site from working.
